Friday Favorites

LulaKate Bridesmaids Dress – I love these dresses and would love to be a bridesmaid in a wedding where the bride chose these beauties. I actually love all the colors which is weird since I NEVER wear yellow or gray. (I’m just to pale to pull those colors off.) So if anyone out there is getting these dresses for their wedding party and you need an extra bridesmaid, I’m your girl. ;)

Almay Makeup Eraser Sticks – One of my bridesmaids brought these with her on my wedding day and I’ve been obsessed ever since. They are a q-tip that you snap the end off and makeup remover flows into the other end. They are ridiculously handy and can fit into purse, makeup case, or anywhere. They are great for getting ready in the morning or for touchups after a long day at the office.

Tina Fey’s Bossypants I needed a book for the flight back from Maryland last weekend and this one has been on my list for a while. I’m only about halfway through but it’s great. Light and funny and a great distraction from any turbulence. It is a book of random stories of Tina Fey’s life and how she got to where she is today. She talks about the awkward stages of growing up and how to be a woman in what is still a mostly man’s world.

Sugar Rose fresh Tinted Lip Treatment - I received this in my Birchbox last month and I have become obsessed with it. I am a chapstick-aholic, there I admit it. And yes I am extremely picky about which chapstick, Softlips all the way. However I have very pale lips and they need a bit of color on them. This is the perfect combination of moisture and a hint of color, plus it has SPF, which is a must for this crazy summer we are having. I think I might suck it up and spurge on another stick of it soon. If I use something all the time, that justifies a high price tag, right?

Weekend in Columbia, S.C. - We are going to my hometown of Columbia, S.C. for the weekend and how fitting is it that we are traveling to the 'Famously Hot' city for the first weekend of 100+ degree weather? We have lots of friends to catch up with and a couple beloved restaurants that we have missed while living in Charlotte. It should be fun to just kick around and have an easy weekend.

Hair Cut!

After a long couple of months of growing my hair out for the wedding, I finally got my hair cut last weekend. I have had long hair in the past but never this long. I have very fine, thin hair so the longer it is the less it will actually do. The length just weighs my hair down so body and curl just falls right out. See what you think.

P.S. I did keep my hair long for Jessie and Taylor's wedding and Lauren, the maid of honor, put it in an updo for me. This is the FIRST time I have EVER had an updo. I always either had my hair down or half up/half down for special occasions so this was fun. Lauren is so talented!

We got our wedding pictures!!!! I'm beyond excited and I want to share all of them with you. However that would equal the longest post ever, so I will restrain myself and put them up in parts. Here are some of my favorites of Andy and I.

Maryland Wedding Trip

I am terribly behind on blog posts so the next couple post will be catch up ones.

We had a fabulous trip to Annapolis, MD for the wedding of a very close family friend of Andy. It was perfect in every aspect from the weather, the mood, and the bride and groom were so in love it was incredible and they looked so happy the whole time. I had never been to Annapolis even though I’ve been to Maryland a dozen times to see Andy and his family and friends. I’m in love! It’s like Charleston, SC but with a small town feel and a little more nautical. I want to go back just so I can walk around and check out all the shops.

We stayed in a B&B over the famous Chick and Ruth’s Delly, which serves just about anything you could ever think of and has been featured on Man vs. Food 4 times.

The wedding was a whirlwind of fun events. First there was the rehearsal and rehearsal dinner where we got to meet everyone and settle in. Saturday was full of hair-dos, makeup, pictures, and the beautiful wedding itself. Everything took place at the William Paca House which was ridiculously beautiful.

We finished up the night in a private party room in Harry Brown’s. We were introduced to a Natty Boh, Maryland  Style, which is a National Bohemian beer with an Old Bay dusted rim. It was really good.

By the end of the night everyone was best friends and we were sad to see the weekend over so quickly. I wish the bride and groom a lifetime of happiness. We love you both!

Maryland Trip

I’m so excited to say that we are gearing up for our trip to Maryland tomorrow.

One of Andy’s absolute best family friends are getting married this weekend in Annapolis and we are flying up for the big event. It will be a super quick trip but it will be so nice to see the in-laws and see friends.
The Utz girl and Natty Boh

Fingers crossed that I get at least one crab cake or get a chance to pick crabs during our trip. (I’m pretty sure it’s a Maryland state law, or it should be if it’s not.)

My Favorite Author

Friday night I marked something off of my bucket list. I got to meet my very favorite author.

I’ve mentioned Mary Kay Andrews a couple times on the blog and I’ve taken to saving her latest books for special occasions like vacations because they are so good. Andrews writes light and happy women's fiction and it's always based in the south. The author has a passion for food and antiques/remodeling so those things usually pop up in her stories. I randomly saw that she was coming to Charlotte and put it in the back of my mind to go.

Well, Andy and I were wandering around Taste of Charlotte, more on that later, and I mentioned that I might want to go meet her since we were finishing up. I’m not the best at doing things all on my own but I’m trying to get better at it. So after a little encouragement I headed off to Park Road Books. I was definitely the youngest person there by like 20 years but I really enjoyed hearing her speak and learning about her background and likes and dislikes. She was super sweet, southern, and everything I had hoped. I got a chance to tell her how much I LOVE her chicken salad recipe from Itsy Bitty Lies, I’ll share that one day too, and how much I really enjoy her stories overall. I bought my mom and I a copy of her new book Spring Fever and had them signed! It was a great experience and I’m so glad I went.
